| Immune System – Digestive Health The healthy body contains trillions of “friendly” microorganisms. The vast majority of them live in the colon, where they perform a multitude of health-supporting tasks. Their most important role is helping to maintain a healthy balance with other less desirable organisms. Enhancing the friendly microorganisms can promote long-term colon health. I’m using a a unique, two-product system that supplies both beneficial bacteria (probiotics) AND the nutrients they need to thrive (prebiotics) to provide complete dietary support for the healthy balance of intestinal microflora. This system ’s state-of-the-art seamless capsule is guaranteed to withstand the acidic environment of the stomach to deliver live beneficial bacteria to the intestine.
By keeping the “good” bacteria plentiful in your digestive system you will keep the “bad” bacteria in check and thus be better able to fight off illness and infection. |
Cardio Health – CoQ10 Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supports energy production in your cells. Studies show that as we age we have less and less of it in our body. CoQ10 is especially important to heart health. A healthy heart, which never stops to rest, relies on CoQ10’s energy support. If feel that I am giving myself an extra advantage in competition by having my muscles use energy as efficiently as possible with the bonus of improving my overall cardiovascular health.
The uniqueness of the CoQ10 supplement I use comes from its highly bioavailable delivery. Your body more readily accepts the softgel delivery form used in this formulation than it does solid powders. So you can get more out of your supplement. Also included in this CoQ10 blend’s combination of ingredients is the powerful antioxidant resveratrol – believed to be the most beneficial antioxidant compound in red wine. Each softgel contains 640 mcg of resveratrol, equivalent to the amount of resveratrol in one glass of red wine. |
| Immune System – Interferon Interferon is a part of the immune system that helps coordinate the actions of the rest of the system. Pharmaceutical companies have produced synthetic interferon of various kinds to help fight cancer and hepatitis. The problem with synthetic interferon is that it is very expensive and very toxic.
A botanical blend has been developed that has been shown to help the body produce more interferon in the body naturally. This additional interferon helps to regulate the immune system; decreasing the reaction when necessary (as in the case of allergies) and improving the response when needed, like when you are exposed to bacteria or viruses. |
Cardio Health – Magnesium Eight out of ten Americans get less than the recommended intake of magnesium in their diets. Processing food and softening water strip magnesium out of many food sources. This magnesium shortfall is compounded because many people aren’t aware of its importance and almost never give second thoughts to the amount of magnesium in their diets.
But magnesium is necessary for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body, according to the National Institutes of Health. Vital to heart health, magnesium helps to keep a steady heart rhythm and retain normal blood pressure. It’s also critical for helping maintain normal muscle and nerve function, supporting a healthy immune system, and keeping bones strong. What’s more, magnesium has also been linked to reducing symptoms of PMS. This is another supplement I use to make sure my body has no shortfalls when it comes to responding to my training program. This may seem like an unimportant thing to add to the diet, but it’s simple to use and will definitely contribute to my long term health as well as my athletic goals. |
| Joint Health & Pain Relief One of the keys to mastering any sport is the repetition of movement. We repeat certain motions properly until they are second nature and get executed in the most efficient manner. During this process of mastering a movement we will cycle and move our joints many thousands of times, sometimes dramatically and with much force.
To keep these joints strong and healthy we can add glucosamine to our diet to help the regeneration process of the cartilage that helps to support the joints. In addition to glucosamine hydrochloride, the joint health blend I use and recommend contains cat’s claw extract (an herb), copper, manganese, and boron. This blend has been shown to be much more effective than glucosamine on its own. Occasionally we go through a training day and we feel so good during training that we push ourselves a little harder that day. Even though we are being good about using our muscle recovery protein drink and are taking care of our joints, sometimes that extra push brings us to a point where we are a bit sore. I usually only get to that point after a particularly strenuous event or training week, but when I do I can turn to a menthol-based joint and muscle pain cream that is very effective. The delivery mechanism helps to ensure that relief is quick and long-lasting. Product Info – Joint Health (PDF) |
Cardio Health – Omega-3 Fatty Acids According to the Centers for Disease Control and the American Heart Association (AHA), heart disease — specifically coronary artery disease — is still the number one cause of death of men and women in the United States. And while it was once considered a man’s disease, today more women than men die from heart disease. And unfortunately, at least 100 million Americans have one or more risk factors for heart disease.
To reduce the risk of heart disease, the AHA recommends eating two servings of fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids each week. But most Americans eat fish only three times per month or less. Moreover, there are growing concerns about unsafe levels of contaminants such as mercury and lead that are now commonly found in many fish. To get around trying to eat non-contaminated fish on a regular basis my wife and I use a purified fish oil that not only contains the omega-3 fatty acids, but also EPA, DHA, ALA and even more. Again, this may not jump to the top of your mind when thinking about what you need in your diet, but I feel that it’s not only keeping my cardio system in top shape for athletics and training, but I’m looking forward to great health well into “old age”. |
Target Zones
To reach even higher levels of performance you will want to treat your body as the finely tuned machine that it is.
